Job context:

The only P&O School in Pakistan , is the Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences (PIPOS), in Peshawar . PIPOS is imparting 4 years degree level education and training in the field of prosthetics and orthotics and is internationally recognised by ISPO for Category-II orthopaedic technologists. One of the objectives of the institute is to develop and regulate the establishment of centres, both in public and private sectors, providing artificial limbs and related facilities in the field of prosthetics and orthotics with a view to maintain high standards of service provided to patients.

PIPOS is running a project called “Rehabilitation project” in the earthquake affected areas (NWFP province) lead by the Rehabilitation Director. This project encompasses 5 rehabilitation centers which operate in Mansehra, Besham, Battagram, Balakot and Bagh.

Each center provides rehabilitation services for free which include P&O and physiotherapy services. A senior CPO from PIPOS is in charge of each center, including budget and team management. They are accountable to PIPOS members.

Job description:

Under the responsibility of the NWFP coordinator, and in close cooperation with the SARC and / or headquarter rehabilitation technical advisor (will be clarified asap), the P&O technical advisor will support PIPOS staff to cope with the challenge of the follow-up of the 5 rehab units, focusing on technical support and capacity building.
